Blackburn Community Lane Mural Painting Workshop

The Investment and Economic Development Unit invites community members aged 18 years and over who live, work, study or play in Whitehorse to be part of an inspiring public art project,  the Blackburn Community Lane Mural.

This new mural will celebrate Blackburn’s local identity, natural environment, and creative spirit, transforming a local laneway into a colourful and welcoming space for all to enjoy.

Guided by Whitehorse-based artist June Chen, who is dedicated to transforming public spaces into shared narratives, participants will have a rare opportunity to learn about mural design, explore how art can capture the essence of local nature and community life, and work alongside a professional public artist to help bring this artwork to life.

This initiative supports enhancing the vibrancy of the Blackburn precinct, activating the laneway as a shared community space that encourages foot traffic and increasing local pride.

All materials will be provided, and light refreshments will be available. Individuals who send through Expression of Interest will be contacted by Council throughout the process with project updates and participation details.
